I can't believe that was over a year ago now, in fact it was two years since I started the challenge. I'll be the first to hold my hand up, I often start things that I never finish.
So with all the will in the world I think I was doomed from the start.
Will that stop me from trying it again this year? Nope.
I've noticed that my knowledge of children's books was never better than when I was actively reading them. And frankly, if teaching children to read is your bread and butter, you should really know what you're talking about.
So I'm going to try again, if for no other reason than to help extend my knowledge of children's texts.
Why not do a different challenge you say? Why not just read for the sake of it? That answer is pretty simple: I'm lazy. Without a motivating factor I will never pick up a book. I will find excuses, claim I'm too busy and all the rest. I need something to spur me on, so I'm hoping this will do.
Here's the challenge as it stands, with the added clause that all books in the challenge need to be suitable for children or teenagers. Wish me luck!
